Regarding Appropriate Behavior For Bleeding Green Nation

Over the last week there has been a lot of conversation taking place on Bleeding Green Nation. Which we are happy to see. The healthy debate and level headedness is an important part of any dialogue and regardless of opinion as long as things are kept in a respectful manner there's nothing not to appreciate about debate.

However, recently, there have been quite a few website visitors that have been engaging in harmful and abusive dialogue which goes against Terms of Service (TOS) and just basic human decency. I want to take a moment to post to remind everyone of the importance of not posting harmful content to this website and a reminder of TOS from Vox Media.

1) Do Not Engage In Abusive Name Calling

Obviously, BGN has a unique community that allows for profanity to be used which I think is a great aspect of this site, it allows for emotions to be poured on this site. However, the incessant name calling, using strong and offensive language directed at others is incredibly unnecessary. One of the TOS clauses explicitly states that you may not harass anyone or use abusive language to someone. This also extends to throwing around false allegations against another user just because they don't agree with you

"is unlawful, harmful to adults or minors, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;"

Use of obscene, abusive or vulgar insults towards other users is subject for review and could lead to banning from the website. (Your dup accounts could also be banned)

2) Doxxing

There is no circumstance, not a situation that shall ever call for justified use of another's private information to be displayed in the comment section. Doxxing, for those who are unaware, is the release of one's private information (personal address, phone number, family's addresses or phone numbers, full and real name, etc.) with the sole intention to create harassment to that person. Doxxing is totally unethical and any type of doxxing will lead to a ban immediately.

To put it simply, do not put other people's information out there.

"transmit any material that is abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, pornographic, obscene, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable;"

"stalk, harass, or harm another individual, including revealing the real name of any fellow user that has chosen to use an alias on the Services"

3) Racism

This should seem rather obvious but do not engage in an targeted harassment, name calling or any type of dialogue that persecutes ones race, ethnicity, religion or nationality. Those who call out racism: This does not give you a free shot to act just as harmful to the commenter who is engaging in racist behavior. There's a flag button for a reason; if you feel you are the target of harassment or that a commenter is getting away with their harmful words I encourage all of you to reach out to one of the mods immediately. You can reach me at Bleedinggreencommunity@gmail.com.

This website, in my opinion, is the best of the best. What other website would have 1,000+ comments on a draft night thread? Or a fan post called "The Eternals" that has now gone for over 280 posts. But everyone on here is entitled to a pleasant time, a fun time interacting with others and assurance that they won't be ruthlessly attacked for simple differences in ideology... I think I learned that in school somewhere.
