The Aberdeen Police Department issued a press release on Monday morning regarding the recent incident that saw Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert get sucker-punched in the face at a South Dakota bar.
At approximately 1:07am on 06/20/2020 Aberdeen Police responded to the 1000 block of South Main Street in reference to an assault.
It was discovered that an adult male had been punched in the face. The male was transported to Avera St. Lukes Hospital where he was treated and released.
Investigation led to the arrest of Kyle Douglas Hadala, age 29 of Sarasota, Florida. He was charged with simple assault.
Further inquiries are being referred to the Brown County States Attorneys Office.
ESPN previously reported an arrest was made. Now there’s official confirmation that that person has actually been charged.
Video of Goedert being knocked out cold surfaced over the weekend. It looked like he was involved in some kind of disagreement prior to getting blindsided with a total cheap shot. A source told The Inquirer’s Les Bowen that Goedert “was with some friends and family, and two guys kept saying disrespectful things.” Goedert walked over to “tell them to chill,” before the punch came in.
Here’s what CriminalDefenseLawyer.com has to say about potential punishment:
“The first and second time a person is convicted of simple assault in South Dakota, it is punished as a Class 1 misdemeanor by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000. Third and subsequent convictions for simple assault are punished as felonies.”
