NFL Schedule Leaks: Eagles will play Washington in Week 1

Hey, remember the last time these two teams played at FedEx Field in Week 1?

The first 2020 NFL schedule leak involving the Philadelphia Eagles is here! The Eagles will play away at FedEx Field against the Washington Redskins in Week 1, according to a report from JP Finlay.

This news contradicts yesterday’s rumor that indicated the 2020 season was going to start with four straight weeks of NFC versus AFC games. The Eagles would’ve been set to play through the entire AFC North in that case.

Instead, the Eagles will reportedly be opening their season against an NFC East rival for the second season in a row. The Eagles also played Washington in Week 1 last year but that game was at Lincoln Financial Field.

The last time the Eagles opened their season in Landover, Maryland was the 2017 season. You may recall the Birds went on to win Super Bowl LII that year. So, it’s probably safe to say the Eagles are going to win their next championship this season.

Washington finished with a 3-13 record in 2019 and they could easily be bad again this year. Then again, they might see some improvement under new head coach Ron Rivera. Maybe second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins takes a step forward.

Or maybe the shortened offseason especially hampers Washington as the Eagles march down to “DC” and start the season 1-0.
