BGN Eagles Quarantine Watch Party: 1995 Wild Card Game

I had a blast two weeks ago watching the iconic 44-6 game against the Cowboys with some of you and we’re going to keep recreating that magic. I ran a poll earlier in the week about what game we should choose for our next quarantine watch party. Well, the people have spoken: given that it had 39 percent of the vote, we’re going to watch the whacky 1995 Wild Card game against the Lions!

Here’s what I said about the game in the poll article:

1995 Wild Card Round against the Detroit Lions

This was a wild one (pun intended), as the Birds defeated Detroit by an outrageous score of 58-37. That mark stood as the highest scoring playoff game in NFL history until January 2010, when the Cardinals beat the Packers 51-45 (though that game went into overtime).

For younger Eagles fans like myself (I turn 26 next Wednesday), this would be a cool opportunity to experience a game I never saw with my own eyes.

This also happened to be the Eagles last victory while wearing their classic kelly green uniform set, as the Birds disappointingly lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Cowboys team in the Divisional Round. Come 1996, the Eagles made the controversial switch to midnight green.

So, on Friday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. EST, we are going to experience this glorious moment in Eagles history. One again, we’re going to be using the Watch2Gether site so that we can all simultaneously view the game while having a running text chat. The 44-6 game was so much and I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who checked it out, so here’s to hoping we have a great turnout.
