The Philadelphia Eagles are trading for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter. Terms of the deal below:
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES RECEIVE — Marquise Goodwin, No. 210
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS RECEIVE - No. 190
In other words, the Eagles and 49ers flipped their sixth-round picks in this year’s draft.
It was previously reported that the Eagles were in discussions for Goodwin so this news doesn’t come as a total shocker. Here’s what we wrote at the time:
The 29-year-old wideout is heading into his eighth season in the league, after spending the past three years with the Niners. Goodwin finished the 2019 season on IR with what Kyle Shanahan called chronic knee and ankle injuries. During his three seasons in San Francisco, Goodwin had 91 catches for 1,543 yards (16.9 average) — though, just 12 catches for 186 yards in 9 games last year. Goodwin is signed through 2021 and carries a $3.95 million base salary in 2020.
On the bright side, the Eagles are adding even more speed to their offense after already selecting Jalen Reagor in the first round. Oh, and DeSean Jackson is still on the team too. Getting Goodwin only cost a 20-spot difference in the sixth round.
On the downside, Goodwin turns 30 in November and has a history of injury issues.
Overall, it’s a low risk move, so why not take a chance?
