Mel Kiper’s final 2020 mock draft contains an undesirable outcome for the Eagles

The 2020 NFL Draft is mere hours away but, heck, why not look at one last mock draft projection? This first round pick for the Philadelphia Eagles comes from ESPN’s Mel Kiper:

21. Philadelphia Eagles — Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

Philadelphia has a major need at wide receiver, but it could address the position in the second round. Murray is a tackling machine and leader in the locker room.

Hm. Kiper joins Daniel Jeremiah as prominent national draft guys who have the Eagles taking Murray. Peter King also recently had this to say:

“My gut feeling on this one — and I’ve got a little bit of knowledge on this — is that I don’t see the Eagles trading up for a receiver. And I don’t think it would be that painful for them if they took Murray, the linebacker from Oklahoma, here to wait until [their second-round pick to draft a receiver at] 53.”

So, maybe the Eagles’ interest in Murray is legit? But they’re also going to trade up for CeeDee Lamb? And they really like Jalen Reagor? So many rumors out there, it’s hard to say for sure.

One thing I do know is that Kiper’s pick of Murray is not a desirable outcome for Philly when he has Henry Ruggs III going to the Minnesota Vikings at No. 22! Passing on a speedy receiver (who probably even make it to No. 21) to take a linebacker would potentially see Philly burn down in flames.

Here are all the receivers going in the first round of Kiper’s mock:

Jerry Jeudy to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 13

Justin Jefferson to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 14

CeeDee Lamb to the Denver Broncos at No. 15

Henry Ruggs III to the Minnesota Vikings at No. 22

Brandon Aiyuk to the New Orleans Saints at No. 24

Tee Higgins to the Seattle Seahawks at No. 27
