The latest rumor ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft is a pretty significant one that should be of interest to Philadelphia Eagles fans (among others).
Check out what 97.5 The Fanatic’s Natalie Egenolf is hearing about Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy:
Source is telling me Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy‘s draft stock may drop due to reported knee issues that haven’t been disclosed yet. Jeudy underwent surgery for a meniscus injury in 2018. #NFLDraft2020

Wow.
This isn’t a one-off, either. NBC Sports Philadelphia Derrick Gunn said he’s hearing the same thing. Gunner went as far to add that some teams aren’t willing to take him in the first round.
She’s telling the truth.... some teams have even taken him off their first round board because of it..

I can’t help but wonder about the source of these reports. To be clear, I’m not doubting Egenolf or Gunn, who are both credible media members. I’m just thinking about who would be motivated to tell them such significant information about arguably the top receiver prospect in this year’s draft.
One could theorize the Eagles are motivated to raise concerns about Jerry’s status because it could lead to him falling to their pick at No. 21. Or at least within striking range of Philly trading up to get him.
Then again, I suppose it’s also possible that the Eagles are one of the teams unwilling to take Jeudy in the first round. Hard to say without knowing the true status of his medical situation.
On that note, NFL teams are obviously dealing with less information this year then they usually are due to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s not like a long list of teams have been able to invite Jeudy to their facilities on pre-draft visits.
Maybe all of this is much ado about nothing and Jeudy goes off the board well before the Eagles really have a chance to get him. But maybe ... just maybe ... the Eagles find Jeudy falling similar to how Jeremy Maclin did back in 2009.
Something to watch out for in about 48 hours from now.
