BGN Quarantine Watch Party: The Eagles/Cowboys 44-6 Game

Dallas Cowboys v Philadelphia Eagles

REMINDER — THIS IS HAPPENING TONIGHT (4/17/20 at 7:00 PM ET)

Loyal BGN Readers,

I understand how antsy you are for any sort of Eagles content. The NFL Draft looms large next week. As part of our social distancing, we’ve spent the last month doing our own personal big boards, got angry that national reporters are mocking linebackers to the Birds at 1-21 and are already looking for Justin Jefferson LSU jerseys on eBay. The anticipation for the draft is amazing, but I miss real Eagles football.

While the NFL season is far away (and maybe even further away than usual given the world’s current situation), that doesn’t mean we can’t get ourselves all worked up about old Eagles wins. The NFL has been airing some old Eagles games. Radio stations in Philly are replaying Merrill Reese and Mike Quick’s calls of instant-classic Birds game from recent history. I’m eating all of this up, but I’m ready to do something that is more special and inclusive for the BGN community.

This all brings us to the first BGN Quarantine Watch Party. Using the website Watch2Gether, we’re going to start a rewatch of the iconic Eagles-Cowboys 44-6 game from Week 17 in 2008. You do not need to sign up for an account to use Watch2Gether. Simply use the link [here] to join our watch room. I’ll start the video at 7:00 p.m. EST on Friday, April 17. You can hop in around 6:30 p.m. EST or so, as I’ll have my video camera open, talk about the magic of that game and answer any questions you may have with the website’s chat function.

We’re all bored. We all miss the Birds. Let’s celebrate one of the greatest moments in Eagles history together. Order a pizza and wings. Put on your mask and gloves and head to Acme to buy a 12-pack of your favorite brew. Sit on your couch, open up your laptop and get ready to re-live a legendary day in Eagles lore.

If this goes well, I’d love to do more of these watch party sessions as we get through this quarantine together.

Stay tuned to the @BleedingGreen Twitter account for any and all updates about the watch party throughout the week too.

UPDATE:

Thanks to a great suggestion from reader @T0ro, we’re going to an official Twitter hastag for the watch party: #BGN446
