Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

The years of the Raiders being a complete dumpster fire organization are now over with Mike Mayock and John Gruden at the helm. They went 7-9 last year with holes across the board. At pick number 19 holes remain but which will they choose to fill? K’Lavon Chaisson is still there but they went heavy EDGE in the 2019 draft. Some really good linebackers are on the board too but I think they addressed that with the signing of Corey Littleton. The 2020 BGN Mock Draft already has Henry Ruggs III being taken number 12 overall to address the wide receiver position. Plus they signed the great Nelson Agholor (Ha-Ha just kidding). So that leaves cornerback, a position the Raiders came up empty on during free agency this offseason.

Drum Roll Please.....With the 19th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders select Kristian Fulton CB out of LSU.

Kristian Fulton is Pro Football Focus’ No. 2-ranked cornerback in this class but please look no further then BGN’s own, Benjamin Solak of The Draft Network, for an overall summary of Fulton:

Kristian Fulton is a quality Day 1 outside corner candidate who is scheme-transcendent at the NFL level. Fulton’s best deployment is in the press, where he played comfortably for multiple seasons in Dave Aranda’s LSU defense. Fulton is an impossibly balanced and controlled corner who wins with smooth transitions, quick-twitch athleticism in tight areas, and great timing closing space on routes to all three levels. Fulton has delightful ball skills with his back to the football and enough speed to squeeze top receivers down the field without losing phase, and has ideal reactionary quickness and play recognition to win in a Cover 3 zone responsibility. Fulton’s biggest weaknesses are his average play strength and accordingly inconsistent tackling, but he projects as a Year 1 starter with Pro Bowl potential in his future.”

Fulton wouldn’t be a Raider without some baggage right? Early on in his college career, he was given a 19 game suspension for providing someone else’s urine for a PED test. He also overcame a rash of injuries by starting all 15 games his senior season, leading the undefeated National Champion LSU Tigers with 14 pass breakups adding an interception and 38 tackles. Paul Guenther runs a zone-based system that loves to blitz on 3rd down. Fulton’s’ ability to completely shut down a side of the field due to his elite man-coverage and reactionary skills make him a fit anywhere. The Raiders fill a position of need as well as draft the best player on the board. At pick 19, this is an absolute no-brainer and I would even consider it at 12th overall.

Cornerback is the position and Fulton is the player - Lock it In and VOTE FULTON!
