Future Eagles Wide Receivers?

The Philadelphia Eagles need to draft a quality wide receiver early in the draft. There I said it. Phew! Feels good to get that off my chest. Now that the obvious takes are out of the way, let's take a look at some of the realistic Wide Receiver prospects that could be putting on that midnight green (and potentially Kelly Green?) in the near future:

The Top-3

We've all heard of these guys. Over the next month, you will continue to hear and read rumor after rumor about what could happen at the 2020 NFL Draft. Who's eyeing up which prospect? Which position should the team target? How is it all going to work since nobody is allowed to look in the general direction of another human in society at the moment?

Within these questions and rumors, you'll hear about the possibility of Howie Roseman trading up in the draft to snag one of these potentially elite prospects.

  • Jerry Jeudy - WR - Alabama
    6' 1" - 192lbs
    Highlights

Jeudy has some elite separation skills that will show up immediately in the NFL. There's a good chance you'll be seeing him lineup all over the field once his career begins. No matter what team drafts him, he'll likely take over as their top receiver very soon. A bit on the slighter side in terms of build, but his technique and skill set make up for it.

  • CeeDee Lamb - WR - Oklahoma
    6' 2.5" - 195lbs
    Highlights

Ceedee Lamb has been my personal favorite receiver of this draft. Take that information however you'd like. That aside, Lamb is the exact definition of a "go up and get it" type receiver. Not only that, but once he has the ball it feels like there is a chance he could take it to the house at any moment.

  • Henry Ruggs III - WR - Alabama
    6' 0" - 190lbs
    Highlights

Ruggs III has been a highlight to the Eagles prospect watcher's union since the start of the offseason. With the speed he highlighted at the combine, along with his ability to compete for the ball, Ruggs III shows off on the field.

Potential Picks

Let's say Howie decides to stay put at No. 21 in the first round and we'll leave the second and third up to chance. These are some of the names you're going to hear a lot about over the next month.

  • Justin Jefferson - WR - LSU
    6' 3" - 192lbs
    Highlights

Going from having Joe Burrow to Carson Wentz throwing you the football would not be a bad transition. 111 catches for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns his last season, Justin Jefferson highlights what a possession receiver can be. Strong hands and a 4.43 speed at the combine showcased some over-the-top potential he has for the NFL.

  • Laviska Shenault Jr. - WR - Colorado
    6' 2" - 220lbs
    Highlights

Perhaps the most athletic receiver of the 2020 class, Shenault Jr. is not someone to shy away from contact and fighting through it. His endurance and versatility can allow him to take some of the workload and can become as reliant to Wentz as Zach Ertz has been over his career. And, wouldn't you know it, even Kobe Bryant tried to recruit Shenault Jr. to the Eagles.

  • Brandon Aiyuk- WR - Arizona State
    6' 1" - 205lbs
    Highlights

Taking over as the top receiver at Arizona State after N'Keal Harry's departure to the NFL last year, Brandon Aiyuk flourished in his new role. His quickness allows him to juke the cornerback in the opposite direction before coming back for the ball. That's where his highlights will show his ability to create in the field after the catch.

  • Denzel Mims - WR - Baylor
    6' 3" - 216lbs
    Highlights

His ability to pick the ball out of the air shines and he averaged 15.5 Yards Per Catch his senior year at Baylor. A long body with long leg speed, you'll see his ability to adjust and make some Top 10 worthy catches at times.

  • Tee Higgins - WR - Clemson
    6' 4" - 210lbs
    Highlights

At a long 6' 4", the biggest thing you'll notice about Higgins is his catch radius. A favorite receiver of Clemson star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Higgins shows a combination of size and some physicality, mixed with his ball skills to be 'ol reliable for some quarterbacks.
  • Jalen Reagor
    5' 11" - 194lbs
    Highlights

Reagor's highlights will show you a lot of punt returns because the man is a threat. His elusiveness and open field creation mixed with his speed puts him in a possible situation to learn from one of the best vertical threats and punt returners in Eagles history, DeSean Jackson.
  • K.J. Hamler - WR -Penn State
    5' 9" - 176lbs
    Highlights

His ability to create after the catch and open field elusiveness gives Hamler the green light for most NFL franchises who want speed. Heard as "the human joystick" at times, Hamler's open space quickness will always be something to pay attention to at any point of the football game.

All of these players could realistically be picked within the first 2-3 rounds of the draft and all have the potential to be representing the Eagles in the future.

If there is any player you think I may have missed as an early round opportunity of the draft, please let me know in the comments. I'd love to discuss.

Keep reading. Be informed. Take care of each other.

Stay safe everyone.

Go Birds.
