Eagles linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill posted what appears to be a goodbye message to Philadelphia via his verified Instagram account on Monday evening.
PHILLY!!!! Can’t describe what my life has been like the last FOUR years being in the trenches and being on top of the mountain!!! TRULY blessed to be a part of such an amazing sports city!!! Thank you to the city of Philadelphia for supporting me these last couples years!! Can’t argue, wildest fans in the world and I love it!! Don’t change
It’s no surprise that Grugier-Hill appears to be moving on. Look back at what we wrote his outlook earlier this year:
Kamu is going to be a free agent and I’m guessing he’s not going to be re-signed. It doesn’t seem like him and his agent are on the same page with the team given how his season abruptly ended. Further, the Eagles gave away Kamu’s special teams captaincy to Riley in the playoffs. I like Kamu and I think it’s unfortunate he couldn’t stay healthy this season. But I get the sense he’s going to be leaving.
It’s a shame the bridge between the two sides got burned. Grugier-Hill looked liked he was poised to have a breakout season in 2019 prior to the injury he suffered early in training camp.
Grugier-Hill turned out to be a nice pickup for the Eagles after Howie Roseman originally claimed him off waivers in September 2016. He was a quality special teams contributor and rotational defensive player. Eagles fans will always remember that time he had to handle kickoffs (and did a great job on them!) when Jake Elliott got hurt against the Dallas Cowboys in 2017. Kamu seemed to have a fun personality off the field; he was one of two players to give Doug Pederson a Gatorade bath after both Week 1 and the Super Bowl win during the 2017 season.
Best wishes to Kamuuuuuuu moving forward. Reports indicate there are multiple teams interested in him.
