Despite speculation that it might be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, 2020 NFL free agency will begin on time as originally scheduled. The NFL officially confirmed as much in a memo sent to teams on Sunday evening.
As a reminder, here’s a look at what’s in store for this week.
MONDAY, MARCH 16
11:59:59 AM ET — Franchise tag window closes.
12:00:00 PM ET — Legal tampering begins
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18
4:00:00 PM ET — Free agency officially begins.
With “legal tampering” (always a silly phrase) beginning tomorrow, the NFL news cycle is really about to pick up. There’s already been some action today with Calais Campbell getting traded to the Balitmore Ravens and Ryan Tannehill re-signing with the Tennessee Titans.
The Philadelphia Eagles could very well agree to terms with some free agents (Byron Jones, perhaps?) as soon as Monday. The Eagles made big news on the first day of legal tampering last year by signing Malik Jackson (who had been released by the Jacksonville Jaguars) and trading for DeSean Jackson.
It’s going to an eventful week. The Eagles will be acquiring some new players and saying goodbye to players currently on their roster.
We’ll be tracking all the news and rumors and such here at Bleeding Green Nation. There’s no better way to follow along with all the action than by staying tuned to BGN!
