BGN’s offseason Question of the Day series is back!
Over the weekend, the Philadelphia Phillies revealed the “new” look for their mascot, the Phanatic. The changes weren’t massive by any means, but juuuust enough (probably) to legally avoid issue with the expiring rights to the previous version of the design.
Some of the changes include:
@ 1st Glance: L-Old, R-New
— Marc Farzetta (@MarcFarzetta) February 23, 2020
1. Lighter Green
2. Hands free from fur
3. Blue around eyes, Lighter & more of it
4. Stars outline Eyes
5. Blue Socks
6. Red Shoes
7. Laces drawn on
8. Scale-like trim under the arms
9. (not pictured) Solid blue tail not green & blue pic.twitter.com/4M2vKdlvN4
Now, as per usual, the changes were hotly debated online — because 1) it’s the offseason for a lot of sports, and 2) Philly fans don’t often like their team brands updated.
The Phanatic’s friend, and Eagles’ mascot, Swoop, has been around for over 2 decades and has seen a few updates of his own over the years. Notice the original version during Swoop’s big debut:

Which leads me to the first Question of the Day for the 2020 offseason...
Would you make changes to the Eagles’ mascot Swoop? If so, what would you change?
Sounds off in the comments!
