From the people that brought you ‘Doug Pederson only getting one vote for Coach of the Year in 2017 despite being the most deserving head coach in the league,’ we now have ‘Miles Sanders only receiving one vote for Offensive Rookie of the Year despite leading all rookies in total yards from scrimmage.’
AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting:
— Anthony Galaviz (@agalaviz_TheBee) February 1, 2020
Kyler Murray, QB, #Cardinals 26 1/2
Josh Jacobs, RB, #Raiders 13
A.J. Brown, WR, #Titans 9 1/2
Miles Sanders, RB, #Eagles 1
Morons.
It’s not like Sanders consistently dominated during his entire rookie season but he did clearly come up really big for the Eagles down the stretch as they made a playoff push to clinch the NFC East. His 1,327 yards from scrimmage not only led all rookies but also ranked 16th in the entire league.
Meanwhile, Kyler Murray led the Arizona Cardinals to a 5-10-1 record while posting a 87.4 passer rating that ranked 20th out of 32 quarterbacks. Wow, truly scintillating.
The upside to Sanders getting snubbed is that it should only motivate him to continue to be great. The future is bright for the Eagles’ 22-year-old running back. I have a feeling people won’t be sleeping on him for too much longer.
