UPDATE: Mike Groh is joining Frank Reich’s staff as the Colts’ wide receivers coach, per NFL Network.

The Indianapolis Colts are adding former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Mike Groh to their coaching staff, as first reported by SiriusXM NFL’s Alex Marvez.

Groh’s specific title has yet to be specified. The Colts don’t have any obvious openings to fill so one would assume the team is creating a special role for him.

Groh is obviously reuniting with another former Eagles offensive coordinator in Indy: Colts head coach Frank Reich. The two worked together during the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl season with Reich serving as Philly’s OC and Groh as the wide receivers coach. Groh was then promoted to Reich’s old position after the latter was hired away by the Colts in 2018.

The Eagles dismissed Groh last month after another season where the team’s offensive output was uneven. There was really a case for Groh to be fired after his first season as offensive coodinator but Doug Pederson gave him another chance. Groh clearly didn’t make the most of it.

It remains to be seen who the Eagles will choose to replace Groh. The team is expected to officially announce coaching changes by the end of this upcoming week.
