Suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

Before the thirteenth Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for the Week 13 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via DraftKings.

My overall record so far is 87-87-3 after going 4-11-1 last week. Ugh. Terrible!. The BGN community is 83-91-3 after going 6-9-1 last week.

Here are suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

NFL WEEK 13 GAMES

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (-7.5) at NEW YORK JETS: The Raiders are coming off a real awful loss but they’ll bounce back here against the NFL’s only winless team. Sam Darnold is just so bad. PICK: Raiders -7.5

CLEVELAND BROWNS at TENNESSEE TITANS (-5): Just don’t think the Browns are as truly good as their record indicates. Cleveland ranks 19th in point differential and 22nd in DVOA. The Titans rank 11th and 12th, respectively. The volatility of Baker Mayfield has me feeling more confident in Tennessee even though this game could be all about running the ball. PICK: Titans -5

CINCINNATI BENGALS at MIAMI DOLPHINS (-10): The Dolphins haven’t been on their A-game lately. But there should be little confidence in Brandon Allen doing enough for Cincy to cover here. PICK: Dolphins -10

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-10): Kirk Cousins has been better lately. He should only continue to thrive against a Jacksonville pass defense that ranks second worst in terms of DVOA. Another big game for Justin Jefferson upcoming. PICK: Vikings -10

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-3) at ATLANTA FALCONS: The Saints beat the Falcons by 15 points a couple of weeks ago but I think things are going to go differently this time around. There’s been more tape to study on Taysom Hill as a starting quarterback and Atlanta is coming off playing some good ball. Just feels like the Saints aren’t so good that they’ll easily be sweeping this division rival. PICK: Falcons +3

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-3) at HOUSTON TEXANS: Deshaun Watson is playing well but losing Will Fuller hurts. So does going up against a tough Colts defense that’ll be looking to rebound after a bad showing in Week 12. PICK: Colts -3

DETROIT LIONS at CHICAGO BEARS (-3): Yikes. Really don’t like this one. For as awful as Mitchell Trubisky is, he typically owns the Lions. So that’s worth keeping in mind. But I think I have to go with Detroit getting that immediate “Unlikable head coach just got fired!” bump. PICK: Lions +3

NEW YORK GIANTS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (-10.5): Surprised the line is this high. Russell Wilson versus Colt McCoy is obviously a big mismatch but the Seahawks tend to make games weird. They can play down to their opponents. The Giants, meanwhile, have relatively played up to their competition. The G-Men can at least make this one competitive. PICK: Giants +10.5

LOS ANGELES RAMS (-2.5) at ARIZONA CARDINALS: If not for a Hail Mary miracle, the Cardinals would be 0-4 in their last four games. There’s also reasons to worry about the Rams with how Jared Goff is playing. But that Rams defense is good and should able to limit the Cardinals’ offense. Plus you can always count on Kliff Kingsbury coaching scared, perhaps even more so than Sean McVay. PICK: Rams -2.5

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at GREEN BAY PACKERS (-8): There’s a chance the Eagles are able to recreate their formula from beating the Packers last year and that’s by running the ball down Green Bay’s throats. Against my better judgement, I’ll take the Eagles to cover in a loss. PICK: Eagles +8

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-1.5): The Chargers deserve more than three wins this year with how Justin Herbert is playing. But there’s a big coaching mismatch here with Anthony Lynn going up against Bill Belichick. The Pats need this game more to keep their playoff hopes alive. PICK: Patriots +1.5

DENVER BRONCOS at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-13.5): The Broncos have a real quarterback this week but it doesn’t matter. Drew Lock is still one of the league’s worst and the Denver offense won’t be able to keep up with the Chiefs’ scoring capabilities. PICK: Chiefs -13.5

WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (-7): Screw it. I’ll say Washington wins this game outright. They have a big rest advantage here with them last playing on Thanksgiving and Pittsburgh playing on Wednesday. The Steelers are going to lose eventually (right?) and Washington could be something of a trap game with Buffalo up next on the schedule. PICK: Football Team +7

BUFFALO BILLS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-1): Tough one. Hard to totally count out the 49ers after watching last week’s game. Their defense is still tough and could cause some problems for Josh Allen. But I don’t feel great about betting on Nick Mullens. I’ll take the point. PICK: Bills +1

DALLAS COWBOYS at BALTIMORE RAVENS (-7.5): The Ravens’ offense has been uneven with Lamar Jackson but they might be able to get back on track against the Dallas defense. Baltimore isn’t so bad that they should be losing four in a row. They still fought hard against Pittsburgh even despite being so undermanned. PICK: Ravens -7.5
