The Philadelphia Eagles officially downgraded rookie wide receiver Quez Watkins to OUT for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
The Eagles announced that Watkins did not travel with the team to Wisconsin due to illness. It’s currently unclear if it’s COVID-19 related.
This development isn’t major news in that Watkins likely wouldn’t been a healthy scratch anyway. But if you were holding out hope that the Eagles would actually do something smart like deactivate Alshon Jeffery and have Watkins suit up instead, well, that won’t be happening now.
The Eagles currently have six receivers available for Sunday: Jeffery, Travis Fulgham, Jalen Reagor, Greg Ward, John Hightower, and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. It’ll be worth watching if JJAW is a healthy scratch in his first game back from testing positive for the coronavirus.
