NFL flexes Football Team vs. Panthers start time, which is relevant to the Eagles

Worth noting.

The NFL officially announced flexed this week’s Washington Football Team versus Carolina Panthers game from 1:00 PM Eastern to a 4:05 PM start time instead.

This news is relevant to the Philadelphia Eagles because the Birds need Washington to lose in order to stay alive in the NFC playoff picture. Had the Panthers lost prior to Philly’s 4:25 PM kickoff against the Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles’ Week 16 game would’ve been rendered meaningless.

It’s not like the Eagles would’ve been trying any less hard to beat Dallas even if they were knocked out. Still, nice to know Sunday’s game is going to be relevant.

The Football Team opened as two-point favorites against a Panthers squad that’s lost three in a row and is 1-8 in their last nine games. But that line might shift with news that Dwayne Haskins was allegedly spotted at a strip club after Washington’s Week 15 loss to the Seattle Seahawks:

It’ll be interesting to see if Haskins faces any discipline for this. If Haskins can’t play (he’s not good anyway) and Alex Smith is still hurt, the Football Team might have to rely on ... *checks their roster page* ... Taylor Heinicke at quarterback. Or undrafted rookie free agent signing Steven Monez.

In other words, can’t rule out the Football Team losing this week’s game to the Panthers. If that happens and the New York Giants lose to the Baltimore Ravens and the Eagles beat the Cowboys ... Philly will be hosting an NFC East title game at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 17.

Oh baby.
