Eagles vs. Cardinals inactives: J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and John Hightower are healthy scratches again

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactives list for their Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The following six Eagles players have been ruled INACTIVE: Darius Slay, Grayland Arnold, Jason Huntley, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, John Hightower, and Nate Sudfeld.

Slay was downgraded to OUT after first being listed questionable on the final injury report due to his concussion. With Slay down and Avonte Maddox on injured reserve, the Eagles are missing both starting cornerbacks. Healthy corners for today’s game include: Jalen Mills (moved down from safety), Nickell Robey-Coleman, Michael Jacquet, Kevon Seymour, and Jameson Houston. For what it’s worth, the Eagles are also listing Blake Countess at CB on their official roster page. The guess here is that Mills and NRC start on the outside with either Jacquet or Seymour coming in to play on the outside when NRC shifts inside to play the slot. Not an ideal configuration.

Arnold is missing his second straight game. With Marcus Epps and K’Von Wallace likely starting at safety, Elijah Riley, Rudy Ford (first game back since Week 10), and Countess are the backups at that position.

Huntley didn’t make the trip to Arizona due to illness. He would’ve been a healthy scratch anyway.

JJAW is a healthy scratch for the third time this season. He hasn’t played a snap since Week 8 and he may never play one with the Eagles again.

Hightower is a healthy scratch for the second week in a row. The team clearly hasn’t liked what they’ve seen out of him in practice and/or behind the scenes. Even so, hard to see the point of keeping Alshon Jeffery active over the young guys.

Sudfeld hasn’t been active since Week 1.

By not filling the roster spots left by placing Maddox and Jack Driscoll on injured reserve, the Eagles avoided the embarrassment of making Genard Avery a healthy scratch this week. Smart optics by Howie Roseman. Of course, Avery likely won’t see much (if any) playing time.
