Are the Philadelphia Eagles really about to win two games in a row with Jalen Hurts taking over for Carson Wentz?
Can’t rule it out. There’s some hope that the offense can at least be functional once again given the ability that Hurts showed in his first NFL start.
But the Eagles might need much more than a merely functioning offense to win this matchup. Philly’s secondary is looking mighty vulnerable with Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, and Rodney McLeod all out. A drop-off in talent combined with communication issues could spell death knell for the Eagles’ defense. Jim Schwartz has a tough task in making things work against DeAndre Hopkins and company. Not to mention Kyler Murray’s mobility to worry about.
I do think the Eagles will put forth a good fight for Doug Pederson. But I wonder if they’ll be able to score enough to win this game in a shootout, which might be necessary.
Win or lose, though, it’ll be pretty interesting to further evaluate Hurts. Will the Cardinals’ defense “figure him out” after getting some NFL tape on him? Or will he continue to build on his encouraging performance in Week 14?
I think Hurts looks solid in an Eagles loss. What about you?
