Finally, a Philadelphia Eagles game with some intrigue!
There’s a really good chance the Eagles won’t beat the New Orleans Saints today. But what if benching Carson Wentz for Jalen Hurts creates a lasting spark? What if the rookie actually lights it up against one of the NFL’s best defenses?
There’s at least some level of hope it can happen. As opposed to knowing the Eagles are going to look lifeless on offense with a broken version of Wentz.
It’s also hard to totally discount the Eagles playing better in this spot because Doug Pederson typically has his team playing their best football in December. And can’t you just envision the chaos that would ensure if Hurts leads the Eagles to a win?
There’s a trap game element here for the Saints with the Kansas City Chiefs up next on the schedule. Then again, they seem to really dislike the Eagles and Malcolm Jenkins certainly isn’t overlooking his former team.
I think the offense will look a little better but ultimately not great. Some Taysom Hill turnovers will prevent Philly from getting blown out but it’ll be a fifth straight loss for the Birds.

My predictions:
Score prediction: 27 to 20, Eagles lose. (And barely cover the 7.5!)
Bold prediction: Hurts finishes with a passer rating higher than 91.1, which is Wentz’s highest mark this season. (Is this actually bold?)
