Suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

Before the fourteenth Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for the Week 14 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via DraftKings.

My overall record so far is 96-93-3 after going 9-6 last week. Back above .500. The BGN community is 91-98-3 after going 8-7 last week.

Here are suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

NFL WEEK 14 GAMES

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-7.5) at MIAMI DOLPHINS: The Chiefs are only 6-6 against the spread this season. As someone who has taken them to cover in recent weeks, I’m aware that they haven’t been able to win as comfortably as expected. The Dolphins fight hard — both figuratively and literally — and I expect them to do that here. I could even see Miami finding a way to win outright. Taking the points feels like an easy call. PICK: Dolphins +7.5

TENNESSEE TITANS (-8) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Bad loss for the Titans last week but they’ll bounce back here even though Jacksonville has been plucky lately. PICK: Titans -8

MINNESOTA VIKINGS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-7): Maybe the Bucs benefit from a late bye week but Tom Brady hasn’t been looking great lately. And Justin Jefferson is red hot. The Vikings aren’t going down easy as they fight to be in the NFC playoff picture. PICK: Vikings +7

ARIZONA CARDINALS (-3) at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Cardinals would be 0-5 in their last five games if not for DeAndre Hopkins’ Hail Mary touchdown catch. Kyler Murray has been inconsistent and I don’t see him rebound against a Giants defense that was just able to shut down Russell Wilson. Make it five straight wins for the G-Men. PICK: Giants +3

HOUSTON TEXANS (-0.5) at CHICAGO BEARS: Hm, Deshaun Watson or Mitchell Trubisky? It’d be insane to take the latter. PICK: Texans -0.5

DALLAS COWBOYS (-3) at CINCINNATI BENGALS: The Cowboys stink but the Bengals look much more hopeless with Brandon Allen out there. Would love to be wrong and see a Cincy win since that’d be good for Philly. PICK: Cowboys -3

DENVER BRONCOS at CAROLINA PANTHERS (-3.5): Super Bowl 50 rematch! Crazy how not much has changed for these teams since then. I’ll say the Panthers get their revenge here coming off their bye week. Probably gonna get screwed by the half point here. PICK: Panthers -3.5

NEW YORK JETS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (-16): I know the Jets haven’t won a game but this line seems out of whack to me. Seattle just lost to the Giants and they tend to play down to their level of competition. And the Jets nearly won last week! I think New York can at least find a way to cover here. Unless I’m not giving enough weight to the Jamal Adams revenge game angle. PICK: Jets +16

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-2.5) at LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: Both of these teams are coming off wins that very easily could’ve been losses last week. Neither side is at the top of their game. I suppose I trust the Colts a little more. PICK: Colts -2.5

GREEN BAY PACKERS (-9) at DETROIT LIONS: I took the Lions to win this game outright for my survivor pick in this week’s episode of The ODDcast. It’s all about the Bevell Bump! Plus the Packers haven’t looked like a total juggernaut despite Aaron Rodgers playing as well as he is. Detroit finds a way to pound the rock against Green Bay’s defense and keep No. 12 off the field. The Lions aren’t entirely out of the playoff picture just yet. PICK: Lions +9

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-7.5) at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: The Jalen Hurts factor adds intrigue and uncertainty here. The Eagles are pretty bad and will probably lose. But perhaps they find a way to barely cover? PICK: Eagles +7.5

WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-3): Why are the 49ers favored? The Football Team just beat the NFL’s only undefeated team for their third straight win. Aside from owning LAR, the Niners have been less competitive. Kyle Shanahan revenge game is worth considering but Nick Mullens going up against Washington’s defense isn’t going to be pretty. Mullens is going to get eaten up by that defensive line. PICK: Football Team +3

ATLANTA FALCONS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-1): Two of the NFL’s biggest choke artists are going head-to-head. The team that has a lead going into the fourth quarter will find a way to lose. I think Justin Herbert is too good to only have two wins under his belt. Helps that the Falcons won’t have Julio Jones. PICK: Chargers -1

BALTIMORE RAVENS (-3) at CLEVELAND BROWNS: Baker Mayfield sure was good last week but I still wonder about his consistency. And the Ravens proved to be such a bad matchup for Cleveland earlier this year. PICK: Ravens -3
