Before the ninth Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for the Week 9 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via DraftKings.
My overall record so far is 61-56-2 after going 7-7 last week. The BGN community is two games behind at 59-58-2.
Here are suggestions when trying to beat the odds.
NFL WEEK 9 GAMES
BALTIMORE RAVENS (-1.5) at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: Philip Rivers is finding a groove while the Ravens’ offense still doesn’t quite look right. Don’t see Baltimore suddenly figuring things out against Indy’s tough defense, Dez Bryant addition be damned. PICK: Colts +1.5

CAROLINA PANTHERS at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-10): The Panthers are coming off extra but that’s not exactly going to make up the difference between Teddy Bridgewater and Patrick Mahomes. Hard to bet against the team that has a quarterback with a 20 touchdown to one interception ratio this season. PICK: Chiefs -10

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (-3) at BUFFALO BILLS: There’s usually concern about West Coast teams traveling out east for 1:00 PM starts but the Seahawks haven’t struggled in these situations. Having Russell Wilson helps with that. Josh Allen might find a way to rebound against Seattle’s leaky defense but his recent struggles are concerning. Not easy to imagine him out dueling the midseason favorite for 2020 NFL MVP. PICK: Seahawks -3

CHICAGO BEARS at TENNESSEE TITANS (-6.5): Surprise, surprise: Nick Foles has struggled since taking over as a full-time starter. Perhaps the Titans’ defense will be able to help him get back on track but I don’t think Tennessee is losing three games in a row. PICK: Titans -6.5
Poll
Which bet do you like more?
HOUSTON TEXANS (-6.5) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Is it Jake Luton or Lake Juton? There’s no way to know for sure. The Texans beat the Jags earlier this season and they should be able to do the same again. PICK: Texans -6.5
Poll
Which bet do you like more?
DENVER BRONCOS at ATLANTA FALCONS (-4): This might actually be a good matchup for the Broncos. They came from behind by 21 points last week. We all know Atlanta isn’t the best team at protecting big leads. On a serious note, the Falcons are coming off extra rest and it’s hard to put a lot of trust in Drew Lock. PICK: Falcons -4
Poll
Which bet do you like more?
DETROIT LIONS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-3.5): The Lions have the better record but the Vikings are the ones favored in this matchup. Matthew Stafford is set to play after missing practice this week due to being in COVID protocol. Does that lost time actually matter? We’ll see but I already think Minnesota is somewhat better than their record indicates. Not buying Matt Patricia to come up big for me. PICK: Vikings -3.5
Poll
Which bet do you like more?
NEW YORK GIANTS at WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM (-2.5): Notable rest disparity here with the Giants having played on Monday Night Football and Washington coming off their bye. Joe Judge has his guys playing hard but I don’t think the Giants are good enough to sweep Washington. The Football Team has a strong defense and they’ll capitalize on some Daniel Jones turnovers. PICK: Football Team -2.5

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (-1) at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: Kind of tough to know what to expect from the Raiders on a weekly basis. Also tough to trust the Chargers when they’re never not finding a way to disappoint. Ultimately, I believe in Justin Herbert’s talent too much for the Bolts to only have one win so far. PICK: Chargers +1
Poll
Which bet do you like more?
PITTSBURGH STEELERS (-14.5) at DALLAS COWBOYS: The Philadelphia Eagles played like crap against the Cowboys last week and still won by 14 points. The Steelers are going to destroy the Dallas offensive line and make life miserable for Garrett Gilbert. Pittsburgh’s offense has the firepower for them to cover this spread. PICK: Steelers -14.5

MIAMI DOLPHINS at ARIZONA CARDINALS (-5): Really like this Dolphins team as a whole. Brian Flores is doing a great job with his group. But I’m going to need to see a lot more from Tua Tagovailoa before I can fully buy in. Kyler Murray’s inconsistency as a passer is concerning but Tua’s struggles are even more worrisome.

Which bet do you like more?
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-4): The Saints got the better of the Bucs in Week 1. It doesn’t feel like we’re due for a repeat with New Orleans looking shaky and Tampa more recently finding their stride. PICK: Buccaneers -4

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (-9.5) at NEW YORK JETS: I’m probably going to regret taking Adam Gase over Bill Belichick but I’m just crazy enough to pull the trigger with Cam Newton struggling. PICK: Jets +9.5
