The Philadelphia Eagles entered Week 12 first in the NFC East but they’re now down to third place with the New York Giants beating the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon.
An updated look at the division standings:
1 - New York Giants: 4-7
2 - Washington Football Team: 4-7
3 - Philadelphia Eagles: 3-6-1
4 - Dallas Cowboys: 3-8
The good news for the Giants is that they have a head-to-head tiebreaker over Washington going for them. The bad news for the Giants is that Daniel Jones suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s win. Colt McCoy will be New York’s starting quarterback if Jones has to miss more time.
As for the Eagles, they can still finish Week 12 in first place by pulling off an unlikely upset over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. Philly is entering the game as six-point home underdogs.
If you’re of the belief that it’s in the Eagles’ best long-term interest to miss the playoffs (and you should be!), you won’t mind Philly losing to Seattle and remaining in third. The other NFC East teams can further help out #TeamTank’s cause by continuing to win.
