Eagles rooting guide for Week 11 games

Sunday afternoon reference material.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The eleventh Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season is here and that means it’s time to run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 11 games.

There are a good number of fans who would (understandably) rather see the Birds fail to make the playoffs.

With this in mind, we’ll include two different versions: a playoffs guide and a tanking guide.

TANKING GUIDE

Current 2021 NFL Draft order via Tankathon:

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at CLEVELAND BROWNS: The Eagles will still be first in the NFC East even if they lose. But they’ll be closer to a higher draft pick ... and hopefully realizing that significant changes need to be made. Root for the Browns.

CINCINNATI BENGALS at WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM: Need the Football Team to win to give themselves a better chance at winning the division and impairing their opportunity to draft a top quarterback prospect. Root for the Football Team.

ATLANTA FALCONS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Need the Falcons to win for the Eagles to have a chance to move ahead of them in the draft order. Root for the Falcons.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS at JACKONSVILLE JAGUARS: The Eagles aren’t going to be able to get ahead of the Jags in the draft order. Better for Jacksonville to lose to stay ahead of Washington and Dallas. Root for the Steelers.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at HOUSTON TEXANS: Deshaun Watson might be able to get the Texans enough wins to move ahead of the Eagles in the draft order. If not, the Eagles can benefit from being closer to moving ahead of the Pats. Root for the Texans.

DETROIT LIONS at CAROLINA PANTHERS: Good result either way but better for the Panthers to win. Root for the Panthers.

TENNESSEE TITANS at BALTIMORE RAVENS: Good result either way with both teams currently 6-3. Not that the Eagles really have to worry about falling behind them.

NEW YORK JETS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: Need the Jets to keep losing to keep other NFC East teams away from the No. 1 pick. Also better to see the Chargers lose since the Eagles have a better chance of passing them. Root for the Chargers.

MIAMI DOLPHINS at DENVER BRONCOS: The Eagles might have a chance to pass the Broncos in the draft order. Probably not but maybe. Root for the Broncos.

DALLAS COWBOYS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS: Need the Cowboys to ruin their draft position. Root for the Cowboys.

GREEN BAY PACKERS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Colts have a better chance of catching the Eagles, though they probably won’t. Root for the Colts.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: The Raiders have a better chance of catching the Eagles, though they probably won’t. Root for the Raiders.

LOS ANGELES RAMS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: The Rams have a better chance of catching the Eagles, though they probably won’t. Root for the Rams.

PLAYOFFS GUIDE

NFC EAST

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at CLEVELAND BROWNS: The Eagles can potentially strengthen their NFC East lead by advancing to 4-5-1. They probably need just one or two more wins to clinch the division at that point. Root for the Eagles.

CINCINNATI BENGALS at WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM: The Football Team is still a threat to win the division with a win over Cincy to advance to 3-7. Root for the Bengals.

DALLAS COWBOYS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS: The Cowboys will drop to 2-8 with a loss to Minny. Root for the Vikings.

NEW YORK GIANTS: Bye week.

NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE CONSIDERATIONS

The Eagles aren’t winning a wild card spot. So, instead of focusing on that, we’ll be looking at getting the Eagles the most favorable matchup as their No. 5 seed opponent assuming Philly wins the NFC East.

ATLANTA FALCONS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Might not be so bad to see the Saints at the Linc in January with Drew Brees banged up. Could be good to see them lose their NFC South lead. Root for the Falcons.

DETROIT LIONS at CAROLINA PANTHERS: The Lions probably aren’t going on a run to get a wild card spot but it would be good for the Eagles if they went on a lucky stretch. Could keep a better team out of the playoffs. Root for the Lions.

GREEN BAY PACKERS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: Might as well see the Packers retain the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture. Root for the Packers.

LOS ANGELES RAMS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: The Bucs winning improves their chances of the Saints falling to the No. 5 seed. It also hurts the Rams’ chances of making the postseason and makes it easier for the Chicago Bears to get in. Root for the Buccaneers.
