In a game that was closer than it should’ve been, the Philadelphia Eagles got some encouraging play from their first-round pick but ultimately the rookies were quiet in this Sunday night win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Jalen Reagor: B+
Jalen Reagor had a productive game in his return from thumb surgery. He caught his first career touchdown on a sprint out where he caught a short pass at the goal line and took a tough shot in order to grab a score. Reagor also had an impressive two point conversion where he made a contested catch in the end zone with Jaylon Smith draped on him. Reagor didn’t have any “explosive” plays, but he contributed and notched a big landmark in his young career.

Jalen Hurts: C
Hurts didn’t see as much involvement as he has in recent games. Notably, Hurts completed his second career pass on a quick out to Travis Fulgham. He saw another quarterback snap on a red zone snap where he got a delay of game penalty and then another on a two point conversion attempt that he failed at. On a night where the Eagles struggled to push the ball downfield, it would have been nice to see more snaps with Hurts involved to get some big plays.

Davion Taylor: N/A
Only played on special teams.
K’Von Wallace: N/A
While Wallace did not see the field on defense, it is interesting that the team went with Will Parks in a pinch when they had to shift Jalen Mills to cornerback. Wallace has seen the field in games before, but with Parks back from injury, Wallace’s chance of being a defensive contributor right now are low. Marcus Epps also played over Wallace.
Jack Driscoll: N/A
Driscoll was inactive due to injury. He could be back after the bye.
John Hightower: C-
Hightower is being used as a mainstay in the lineup at this point. He was targeted several times downfield, much to the detriment of the team. Upon first looks, it is easy to blame Hightower for poor ball tracking or Wentz for bad throws, but it really looked like the wind was vicious in the stadium. It was clearly hard to judge the ball path and the deep ball didn’t really get going. The team obviously sees Hightower as their deep ball specialist.

Quez Watkins: N/A
Active but didn’t play a snap on offense or special teams.
Shaun Bradley: N/A
Only played on special teams.
Jason Huntley: N/A
Returned one kick for 20 yards.
Michael Jacquet: B+
Michael Jacquet came off the practice squad and almost immediately was thrust into duty on defense with Darius Slay getting hurt. The rookie out of ULL had a solid first game against a short-handed Cowboys passing game. While Ben DiNucci didn’t exactly test the Eagles secondary, Jacquet not giving up any big plays is a win for the rookie. He also picked off a pass at one point but couldn’t hold on. Unfortunately he had an injury in the second half. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
