UPDATE: NFL insider Jay Glazer said Lane Johnson is OUT for Sunday night’s Eagles versus Cowboys game. He said the following on FOX NFL Sunday:
Lane Johnson, the team thought he was going to go, I just got off the phone with him, his knee swelled up today, he told me he will actually be out later against Dallas.
So it looks like it’ll be Jordan Mailata starting at right tackle after all.
ORIGINAL STORY BELOW.
The Philadelphia Eagles officially downgraded Lane Johnson to “questionable” for Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Johnson was originally listed without a game status after fully practicing on Friday. In other words, the Eagles indicated Johnson was set to play. But that’s no longer a lock.
The feeling here is that Johnson shouldn’t play in tonight’s game. He hasn’t been able to play 100% of the Eagles’ offensive snaps since Week 3. What’s the point of starting him tonight only for him to come out early when the Eagles could instead rest him until they return from their bye in Week 10?
If Johnson can’t play, Jordan Mailata will likely make his first NFL start at right tackle across from DeMarcus Lawrence. Mailata took some first team right tackle reps in practice this week.
The Eagles are required to reveal their inactives 90 minutes prior to kickoff, so we’ll see if Johnson’s playing or not around 6:50 PM Eastern.
