The Philadelphia Eagles officially activated 21-day practice windows for injured reserve members Craig James and Vinny Curry on Wednesday morning. James and Curry both suffered injuries during the Eagles’ Week 1 game and were placed on IR ahead of Week 2, thus making them eligible to now start practicing again.
It should be noted that this news does NOT mean that James and Curry have been fully activated to the 53-man roster just yet. This window allows the team to see how the players handle practice before officially using a roster spot on them.
Just because the Eagles started the window doesn’t necessarily mean James or Curry will return for this week’s game. Case in point: the Eagles activated Quez Watkins’ window last week but he wasn’t ready to suit up in Week 4. Then again, it’s possibly that James and/or Curry are closer to playing than Watkins was when his window was activated.
The Eagles could especially use James back soon since 1) they’re thin at cornerback and 2) special teams standout Rudy Ford is injured and will miss some time. There shouldn’t be as big of a rush to activate Curry given how the defensive end rotation is producing.
With the Eagles only activating practice windows for James and Curry, it seems like they won’t be doing the same for Will Parks. Parks has been eligible to return since last week but it looks like he’ll need another week or two at least before he’s ready to come back.
In other news, the Eagles re-signed Adrian Killins to their practice squad. The Eagles signed Killins to their roster on Saturday before their win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. Killins failed to produce with the two touches he got. The Eagles waived Killins on Monday and he cleared waivers, thus paving his way for a return on the practice squad.
