The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the following moves on Tuesday evening:
- OT Prince Tega Wanogho and DT T.Y. McGill protected on the practice squad.
- CB Trevor Williams released from injured reserve.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
PRINCE TEGA WANOGHO
The Eagles need extra offensive tackle depth with Lane Johnson banged up and Jack Driscoll set to miss this week’s game. Johnson was limited in practice on Tuesday, which indicates he’ll try to play. But even if he does suit up, his nagging ankle injury might force him to leave the game early.
Jordan Mailata and Brett Toth are the Eagles’ only fully healthy tackles heading into Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants. Thus, the Eagles will look to elevate PTW to give them another body at the position.
Malik Jackson is reportedly set to miss this week’s game, if not Week 8 as well. His injury leaves the Eagles with just Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Hassan Ridgeway at defensive tackle. Elevating McGill gives the Eagles a fourth body at the position.
McGill was previously elevated to the roster in Week 1. He notched two quarterback hits and half a sack against Washington in that game.
Here’s a recap of the transactions that the Eagles put Williams though since first originally signing him back in January (read from bottom up):
Williams played 34 defensive snaps for the Eagles this season. The veteran was providing outside cornerback depth before getting hurt and being placed on injured reserve.
