Shareef Miller is headed back to his hometown.
The Eagles are re-signing Philadelphia native Shareef Miller, their fourth round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, to their practice squad. This news comes from NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Miller played zero defensive snaps and just two special teams snaps as a rookie. He failed to win a job on the Eagles’ 53-man roster heading into 2020 despite having some flashes in camp. Miller ultimately got caught up in a numbers crunch with the likes of Casey Toohill, Genard Avery, and Joe Ostman ahead of him.
The Carolina Panthers, who employ some former Eagles executives in their front office, claimed Miller off waivers after Philly cut him in early September. But then the Panthers waived Miller one month after bringing him in.
Miller coming back to Philly fills out the Eagles’ 16-player practice squad and gives them more depth at defensive end.
