Eagles rooting guide for Week 6 games

The sixth Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season is here and that means it’s time to run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 6 games.

I’m holding off on bringing the tanking guide back since the Eagles are still at least theoretically capable of winning an awful NFC East.

EAGLES GAME

BALTIMORE RAVENS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: Even if the Eagles lose this game in which they’re 9.5-point underdogs, they could feasibly rebound to 4-4-1. Their next four weeks: vs. NYG, vs. DAL, bye, and at NYG. Root for the Eagles.

NFC EAST GAMES

WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM at NEW YORK GIANTS: An Eagles loss combined with a Washington win moves Philly down to third in the division. Better to see the Giants pick up their first victory. The Eagles have an opportunity to bury the G-Men anyway while facing them two times in the next four weeks. Root for the Giants.

ARIZONA CARDINALS at DALLAS COWBOYS: We’ll see Andy Dalton make his first start with the Cowboys on Monday Night Football. The Eagles will hope it’s not a good one. Root for the Cardinals.

NFC GAMES

ATLANTA FALCONS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS: The Vikings are a bigger threat to the Eagles landing an unlikely wild card berth. Also better to see Atlanta win for draft position purposes. Root for the Falcons.

DETROIT LIONS at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: AFC team over the NFC team. Root for the Jaguars.

CHICAGO BEARS at CAROLINA PANTHERS: If we assume the Bears are going to get a fifth or sixth seed, Carolina losing helps the Eagles’ chances of getting the seventh playoff spot. Root for the Bears.

GREEN BAY PACKERS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: Tampa Bay losing helps the Eagles’ chances of getting the seventh playoff spot. Root for the Packers.

LOS ANGELES RAMS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: San Francisco losing helps the Eagles’ chances of getting the seventh playoff spot. Root for the Rams.

WHAT’S LEFT

DENVER BRONCOS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: No impact on the Eagles’ playoff outlook so root for the worse team to win with draft position in mind. Root for the Broncos.

HOUSTON TEXANS at TENNESSEE TITANS: No impact on the Eagles’ playoffs outlook so root for the worse team to win with tanking in mind. Root for the Texans.

CLEVELAND BROWNS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: Probably doesn’t matter because of the Eagles’ tie but since the Birds still have an opportunity to beat the Browns, it’d boost their strength of victory tiebreaker if Cleveland is as good as possible. Root for the Browns.

CINCINNATI BENGALS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: No impact on the Eagles’ playoff outlook so root for the worse team to win with draft position in mind. Root for the Bengals.

NEW YORK JETS at MIAMI DOLPHINS: No impact on the Eagles’ playoff outlook so root for the worse team to win with draft position in mind. Root for the Jets.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at BUFFALO BILLS: No impact on the Eagles’ playoff outlook or draft positioning. Just root for the outcome that makes you happiest. You deserve it.
