Dak Prescott suffered a pretty gruesome injury in the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 5 game against the New York Giants. The quarterback’s ankle got twisted the wrong way after getting tackled by a Giants defender. You can [click here] to watch the play if you really must but I strongly advise against it.
It was a tough scene in Dallas with Prescott crying as he was carted off the field. For as much as we all dislike the Cowboys, that injury is just not something anyone should enjoy seeing.
Dak Prescott extremely emotional leaving the field.

Given how bad the injury looked, one can only imagine Prescott’s 2020 season is over. And if that’s the case, it’s a pretty noteworthy development for a guy who’s previously never missed a single game in his career.
From an Eagles perspective, the Cowboys losing their starting quarterback could further help Philly hang around in the abysmal NFC East. There are certainly worse backups to have than Andy Dalton but he’s clearly not as good as Prescott. The Eagles could see Dalton when they play the Cowboys in Week 8 and Week 16 this season.
It’ll be interesting to see how this injury impact Prescott’s long-term standing with Dallas. He’s currently set to be a free agent after 2020 since he’s playing on the franchise tag this season. Prescott was leading the league in passing yards heading into Week 5.
Here’s wishing Dak a healthy recovery.
UPDATE: Prescott was reportedly taken to the hospital for surgery. Ugh.
Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott is undergoing ankle surgery tonight, sources tell @mortreport and me.
