Doug Pederson didn’t really indicate that many changes would be taking place to his coaching staff but it sounds like they may be happening anyway. Interesting rumor here from former NFL quarterback and current ESPN broadcaster Greg McElroy:
I’ve heard that Philadelphia Eagles’ are likely to have a shakeup on their coaching staff today.
— Greg McElroy (@GregMcElroy) January 9, 2020
Hm. What could he be talking about?
Perhaps it’s worth considering what ties McElroy has to the Eagles. He did play quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide right before Mike Groh arrived as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator in 2011. Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and director of team development Joe Pannunzio also arrived at Alabama in 2011. So, they didn’t overlap with McElroy directly, but maybe they still have familiarity.
Pederson already said Groh and wide receivers Carson Walch are safe to return in 2020 but he hedged a little by saying his staff is still being evaluated. Maybe it’s possible they’re on the outs after all.
Or maybe McElroy is referring to some other coaches altogether. Hard to really know with how vague he was.
Stay tuned to BGN.
