Baylor head coach Matt Rhule has been rumored to be the Giants’ top choice for their head coaching vacancy but the New York native won’t even be showing up for his interview. He’s already accepted the Carolina Panthers’ job, according to a report from Yahoo Sports’s Pete Thamel.
Rhule staying out of the NFC East is a good development for the Philadelphia Eagles. After watching him turn around Temple before then doing the same with Baylor, I thought he might be the man to help fix the Giants. But that won’t be happening now.
The Giants will have to look elsewhere for a head coach. Perhaps they go with Josh McDaniels, who flamed out with the Denver Broncos in his first head coaching stint. Or, you know, there is a new option who became recently available ...

Jason Garrett to the Giants is a possibility that was rumored during the regular season. Please make it happen, Dave Gettleman.
UPDATE: Lol!
The #Giants have requested permission to speak with former #Cowboys coach Jason Garrett, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. He’s still under contract in Dallas until Jan. 14, so permission is required.
