Eagles Rookie Report Card: Nice night from Miles Sanders not enough

Wild Card Round - Seattle Seahawks v Philadelphia Eagles Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images

A gut-wrenching loss and a disappointing end to a injury-riddled season. Not much to feel good about tonight. The Eagles toughed out a game against the Seahawks despite having the odds stacked against them but ultimately came up short. Here’s how their young guys looked.

Andre Dillard: B+

In what has become typical fashion, Dillard only came on as an extra linemen, where he was solid. Jason Peters finished the season out as the starter despite Dillard’s encouraging play midway through the year. After the game, Peters said he wants to play in 2020.

Miles Sanders: A-

Despite dealing with an ankle injury, Miles Sanders came through with a really inspired performance. He made a lot of big plays in the running and passing game, including looking good as a pass blocker. Sanders dropped a key fourth down conversion at the end of the game, but Josh McCown took blame for a bad throw on that play. That drop might color how people see his performance today, but he played impressively when the lights were bright. The Eagles should be encouraged with what they have in him going forward.

JJ Arcega-Whiteside: F

A quiet end to a disappointing rookie campaign. JJ only had one catch tonight that was negated by a penalty. He barely saw the field as Robert Davis and Greg Ward outsnapped him. Not a good sign for the second round pick.

Anthony Rush: C

Rush saw the field a decent amount without making a noticeable impact; positively or negatively. Logged no stats but took up space against the run and pushed the pocket in against the pass. It would have been nice to see a bigger impact from the rookie nose tackle, but he certainly wasn’t a liability.

TJ Edwards: B

TJ Edwards was solid, yet unspectacular. He saw the field mostly as the third linebacker and a special teams player. He made his presence felt on kick coverages.
