The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactives list for their 2019 NFL Week 1 game against the Washington Redskins.
The following seven players have been ruled INACTIVE: Nate Sudfeld, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Jordan Mailata, Nate Herbig, Matt Pryor, Shareef Miller, and Daeshon Hall.
Sudfeld, Grugier-Hill, and Mailata were all officially ruled out on Friday’s final injury report.
Sudfeld’s absence means Josh McCown will be the only healthy quarterback behind Carson Wentz. Zach Brown figures to start next to Nigel Bradham with Grugier-Hill out. Mailata could easily have been inactive even if he was healthy.
Herbig, Pryor, Miller, and Hall are all healthy scratches. Hall being inactive is a surprise since he was so dominant in the preseason and Josh Sweat was ... not. But the Eagles are going with Sweat as their fourth defensive end anyway. Dave Spadaro offers an explanation:
The reason DE Daeshon Hall is inactive: Josh Sweat strong vs run backing up starters Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett, with a solid Vinny Curry as No. 3 DE

I don’t recall Hall struggling in run defense, but okay.
Bradham, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Brooks, Derek Barnett, and Ronald Darby are all notably active after missing offseason time while they recovered from injuries that occurred last season.
Rudy Ford is active for the first time in his Eagles career. The team traded for him in late August and he missed Philly’s final preseason game due to injury. Ford, a fifth string safety, is expected to play on special teams.
Newly promoted tight end Alex Ellis is also making his regular season Eagles debut. He’s the third tight end behind Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert.
Undrafted rookie free agent linebacker T.J. Edwards is active for his first NFL game.
