The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed Greg Ward back to their practice squad, according to an official announcement from the team.
The Eagles released Ward earlier this week in order to promote practice squad cornerback Craig James to the active roster. The Eagles needed another corner with Ronald Darby expected to miss “a few games” due to a hamstring injury. Ward wasn’t needed on the roster anymore with Alshon Jeffery returning to action this week.
Ward logged just two offensive snaps and 13 special teams snaps in his NFL debut this past Sunday. Barring further wide receiver injuries, those could very well be the only snaps Ward takes with the team all season long.
The Eagles still have one open spot on the practice squad after signing Ward. The team could look to fill that vacancy at some point prior to Philadelphia’s Week 5 game against the New York Jets.
