The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactives list for their 2019 NFL Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions.
The following seven Eagles players have been ruled INACTIVE: Corey Clement, DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Timmy Jernigan, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Shareef Miller, and Nate Herbig.
The big news here is that Dallas Goedert is ACTIVE. The Eagles tight end went through two pregame workouts before being cleared to play. It’s unclear if Goedert, who is dealing with a calf injury, will play his regular workload or if the team will manage his snaps. Zach Ertz and Alex Ellis are the other two active tight ends.
Clement, Jackson, and Jernigan were all ruled out on Friday. Grugier-Hill was ruled doubtful; he hopes to play in Week 4. Jeffery was questionable to play after missing the entire week of practice. Miller and Herbig are healthy scratches.
Jackson and Jeffery being out means Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and Greg Ward are the Eagles’ top four receivers. Today marks Ward’s regular season NFL debut.
Clement’s absence means Miles Sanders will handle kick return duty. Hassan Ridgeway will start next to Fletcher Cox in place of Jernigan.
Daeshon Hall and Matt Pryor are active for the first time this season. They’ve previously been healthy scratches to this point. It’d be nice to see Hall finally get some playing time in the defensive end rotation but we already know he’s the fifth guy in the pecking order.
Nate Sudfeld is also active for the first time this season despite being questionable on the final injury report. The guess here is that Josh McCown is still Carson Wentz’s primary backup.
