The injury report got a little scary for the Eagles during last week’s loss to the Falcons that put the team 1-1 heading into Week 3’s matchup against the Lions.
The Eagles last faced the Lions in 2016, during Doug Pederson’s first season as Philadelphia’s head coach, and suffered a close road loss, 23-24. The last time these teams played in The Linc was in 2013, and the Eagles snagged a 34-20 win.
There used to be a bit of inside familiarity with Eagles’ defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz who was Detroit’s head coach from 2009 to 2013, but as he noted earlier in the week, there are only a handful of players from his time still with the franchise — although, you’d hope he’d have some kind of advantage against QB Matthew Stafford.
Things look a lot different under Matt Patricia, and Pederson mentioned Friday that players look a lot more comfortable and confident in his system this season. Still, the Lions have started the 2019 season 1-0-1, with their win coming in Week 2 against the Chargers.
The Eagles have a lot of adjustments to make with all the new plays working through injuries, but hopefully, with a week to prepare, they’ll look a lot more cohesive than they did in last week’s Sunday Night Football contest.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the game.
