A total of SEVEN players did not practice on Thursday: Corey Clement, Jonathan Cyprien, Dallas Goedert, DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Timmy Jernigan, and Jordan Mailata. Everyone here except for Cyprien also didn’t practice on Wednesday. They’re all probably going to miss Sunday’s game.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo gave some additional insight on Jackson and Jeffery. It sounds like they’ll miss AT LEAST two games, if not more.
.@MikeGarafolo’s Eagles injury update:— Brandon Lee Gowton (@BrandonGowton) September 19, 2019
“If both of those guys [DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery] — based on the conversations that I’ve had — if both of those guys are back on the field for Week 5 against the Jets, I would consider that a *really good* outcome for the Eagles.”
The Eagles are currently headed into Sunday’s game with Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, and JJ Arcega-Whitside at wide receiver ... and Zach Ertz and Alex Ellis at tight end. The Eagles might promote Greg Ward from the practice squad to give themselves a fourth receiver.
The Eagles’ safety depth isn’t looking so hot coming into this game. Cyprien could be out and Rudy Ford was limited for the second day in a row. The struggling Andrew Sendejo is the only healthy backup behind Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod. Being without Cyppy Cup and Ford also hurt the Eagles’ special teams unit.
Speaking of special teams, ST captain Kamu Gruger-Hill was limited for the second day in a row. He said he expects to return against the Packers in Week 4.
Starting defensive linemen Fletcher Cox and Derek Barnett were upgraded to full go on Thursday after being listed as limited on Wednesday. That’s the most positive development from this injury report.
