Eagles fans, come tailgate with Bleeding Green Nation!

Headed down to an Eagles home game and looking for a spot to hang beforehand? Come tailgate with me! As the BGN Community Manager, I want to build upon the phenomenal community our readers already have and give them an actual place to connect with one another.

Tailgating is a huge part of my Eagles fandom. It’s just not just about having some drinks and getting pumped for the game. It’s about the interactions. I have family friends and my own childhood friends who I never really see that much out of the year except for Eagles home games. It’s special. It’s a citywide bond that brings everyone together. It makes me feel a part of a larger family, a midnight green family. “E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES” chants get going every 90 seconds. Middle-aged men crack open cans of Miller Lite while wearing hoodies and shorts in 54-degree weather. College friends play washers and shoot the breeze. People tailgate everywhere, but tailgating an Eagles game is an experience that is uniquely Philly.

I love Bleeding Green Nation and want to truly be a part of this family, so I’m welcoming you to my family’s own tailgate. It’s not some over-the-top catered tailgate, but there’s a lot of heart to it and it’s a lot of fun. If you’re going into The Linc or heading to Xfinity to watch the game, I just want our readers to have a space to chill out and immerse themselves in the atmosphere. You want to play a game of cornhole against some Eagles die-hards? Go right ahead!

It doesn’t matter if 50 people or 2 people come by. I’d love to just have a central location where like-minded Birds fans can meet up. I tailgate in the Jetro Lot, typically in the same spot every week, straight south from the entrance on 7th and Pattison. Our gracious leader Brandon Lee Gowton will be supplying me with a Bleeding Green Nation logo flag and flagpole as well, making it a bit easier to spot me amidst the sea of cars, trucks and RVs in the lot.

If you want to BYOB and just have a spot to hang for a bit, totally fine! If you actually want to go all out and get some drinks and eat the food we prep (some bacon and scrapple in the morning for breakfast and then burgers, dogs, chicken and sometimes cheesesteaks for lunch), DM me on Twitter (@shamus_clancy). My friends and I each give my dad $30 for all the supplies he buys for the tailgate and then we eat and drink all we want. This is not money I’m pocketing. It’s simply to make sure my dad isn’t too far in the red after any given tailgate. If you want to go that route, I just ask that you please, please contact me by Friday at the latest so that I have a set headcount. That goes for Sunday or any other home game going forward.

For any further questions about the tailgate, directions or anything else, again, feel free to drop a comment below and/or DM me. My DMs are always open. Go Birds!
