Another roster move for the Eagles on a busy Tuesday ahead of the first preseason game. Offensive tackle Casey Tucker suffered a concussion in Sunday’s open practice and has now been waived/injured by the team. They’ve picked up cornerback Ajene Harris in his place.
Harris is an undrafted free agent out of USC, and actually signed with the Eagles following the draft in late-April.
He began his college career as a wide receiver, but after missing the 2015 season due to having hip surgery the summer before the season, he made the move to the defensive side of the ball ahead of the 2016 season.
During that first year at DB, Harris often played nickelback and also saw snaps on special teams. He had 27 total tackles, 4 passes defended, 2 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 1.0 sack.
Harris followed that up in 2017 with 58 total tackles, 6 passes defended and a career-high 3 interceptions (again, returning one for a touchdown), and his senior season he similarly recorded an additional 58 total tackles, 6 passes defended and 1 Pick-6.
