Well, here’s a bummer: the Philadelphia Eagles are waiving defensive tackle Treyvon Hester, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Caplan.
You’ll recall that Hester was the Eagles’ playoff hero from their 2019 Wild Card round win over the Chicago Bears. Hester JUST managed to get a finger on Cody Parkey’s game-winning field goal attempt and deflect it enough to have it double doink off both the upright and crossbar.
It’s not a total shock the Eagles cut Hester because he was on the depth chart behind Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson, Timmy Jernigan, and Hassan Ridgeway. It was just a question of the Eagles keeping five defensive tackles or not. It looks like the team might be keeping six defensive ends — with Shareef Miller making the roster — instead.
Hester is still practice squad eligible so the Eagles could sign him to that but he could easily get claimed on waivers.
Thanks for the great memory, Treyvon.
