Week 3 of preseason is in the books and I got bad news folks.. the Philadelphia Eagles did not snap the Baltimore Ravens preseason win streak, which was extended to sixteen games. It’s heartbreaking, I know, but as a city and fan base I’m confident we’ll find the collective strength to push past this. To be fair though, you can’t prove that Clayton Thorson WASN’T going to lead a comeback. So there’s that.
The Kist & Solak Show #112 breaks down the game, but really, this is a Josh McCown/JJ Arcega-Whiteside love fest, much like many of the articles emanating from this game. You’re excused if you tuned out when you saw that Cody Kessler got the start, but things turned up when McCown entered the game and Arcega-Whiteside shined throughout.
Brandon Lee Gowton is on the hype train with us, as he highlighted in his takeaways from the game.
“JJ’s talent was on full display against the Ravens. He managed to create separation with sharp route-running. He showed off his red zone prowess with his touchdown grab. He even showed some ability to get yards after the catch.” - BLG
His emergence with a capable quarterback was no surprise to us here at BGN. Back in May we lauded the pick as very good value with an eye towards the future.
Beyond the connection between McCown and Arcega-Whiteside, we hit on a number of topics from the game. Seeing Rodney McLeod back and looking healthy is a big plus and the Eagles continue to show fantastic depth along the interior of their defensive line.
