UPDATE: Doug Pederson confirms the Eagles’ starters will play. Josh McCown is reportedly expected to play two quarters tonight.
Doug Pederson tells @RossTuckerNFL “some more of the starters will play a quarter.” I would not expect to see Carson Wentz. Plenty more with Doug on Eagles Preseason Kickoff. Only @NBCPhiladelphia at 7 PM. pic.twitter.com/Iou7K7osQq

Eagles are hoping Josh McCown can go two quarters even though he’s only had 4 days worth of practices .....

ORIGINAL STORY BELOW.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens potentially just got a little more interesting.
NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark is hearing that the Eagles WILL be playing some of their starters tonight and DeSean Jackson will be among them.
Some tweets from Eagles players are adding fuel to Clark’s report. See for yourself:

(Of course, Johnson isn’t expected to play since he was previously ruled out of the preseason with a knee injury. He is expected to be ready for Week 1.)
Prior to last week’s Eagles versus Jaguars game, Eagles legend and radio color commentator Mike Quick appeared on NBC10 and told Clark that he expected Carson Wentz to play against the Ravens. Clark’s tweet from Thursday afternoon indicated he’s still unsure if the Eagles’ starting quarterback will play, though.
The Eagles’ messaging throughout summer has been that the starters don’t need to play much — if at all — in preseason games because the team is getting good work in during practice. So, even if if the starters do play tonight, it’s hard to imagine they’ll see a ton of action. Especially after practicing against the Ravens two times earlier this week.
We’ll see how it goes. Tonight’s meaningless game would certainly be a little more interesting if we could gauge how the starters are looking.
On the flip side, it’d be terrible to see the Eagles suffer any significant injuries. So it’d hardly be the worst thing if they don’t end up playing much.
Poll
Should the Eagles play their starters against the Ravens?
As a side note, Derrick Gunn reports that Corey Clement will make his preseason debut tonight. Good to see.
