It’s the that time of the offseason when injuries just start stacking up.
Eagles tight end Richard Rodgers missed a lot of training camp due to a foot injury and his return on Monday didn’t last long; he was carted off the field during the team’s joint practice with the Ravens with a towel over his head.
Eagles TE Richard Rodgers upset as he’s carted off the field. He went down during team drills. Pederson hugged him as he went onto cart.

Rodgers didn’t get a ton of playing time for the Eagles in 2018, but did see snaps in seven games during the season. It’s no secret the team’s No. 1 and 2 are Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert, but tight end depth is definitely important for Philly with their focus on 12 personnel packages.
The Eagles have been making roster moves a-plenty the past week or so — in large part due to need with both Nate Sudfeld and Cody Kessler being sidelined, and then Paul Worrilow re-aggravating his knee injury — and they could look to bring in another tight end depending on Rodgers’ prognosis.
With Rodgers hurt again and Goedert missing the rest of the preseason, the Eagles are currently down to Ertz, Joshua Perkins, Will Tye, and Alex Ellis as their healthy tight ends.
