Eagles vs. Ravens joint training camp practice live updates

Read on for live updates from Eagles practice!

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Baltimore Ravens Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

Here we go! After 16 training camp sessions of facing off against their own teammates, the Philadelphia Eagles will now get a new challenge with the Baltimore Ravens coming to town for two joint practices.

This week will be especially important for the Eagles’ first team units since they’ve mostly been resting in preseason games. The Eagles and Ravens won’t be tackling to the ground but both teams will be in pads as they go up against each other. These practice reps could be the closest thing some starters — such as Carson Wentz — get to real action prior to Week 1.

The Ravens should be a good challenge for the Eagles. Baltimore’s defense allowed the fewest points in the NFL last season. Second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson is a dynamic threat on offense. Jackson will be looking to target 2019 first-round pick (and former rumored Eagles draft target) Marquise Brown, assuming the rookie speedster is able to practice.

The last time the Eagles held joint practices was with the Dolphins back in 2017. A number of Eagles players talked about how those sessions were valuable in building confidence and gauging how truly good they were before eventually going on a Super Bowl run. So, it’ll be interesting to see how things go this time around.

Today’s two-hour practice will begin at 1:30 PM Eastern. Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and offensive coordinator Mike Groh will have press conferences after practice. Players from both teams will also be available to reporters.
