Who are you buying or selling on the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense when it’s time for your fantasy draft? The consensus is that there will be plenty of opportunity for production on a loaded roster that will put up points, but are there logjams to avoid?
On Fireside Chats #13, Eliot Crist of The Quant Edge helps me work through those questions. Questions like the tight end position and what having two “starters” at the position can do to fantasy value. Also, does having Miles Sanders and Jordan Howard in the same backfield, along with the Eagles running-back-by-committee approach, mean you should be out on both entirely? What about wide receiver where Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson’s volatility could pose concerns?
There’s also the matter of Carson Wentz’s fantasy ceiling, which Crist believes is very high:
“Wentz is healthy now and that’s a big deal... before he tore his ACL [in 2017] he was second overall among quarterbacks in fantasy points. What I love is that the Eagles throw the ball a lot; they were 89th percentile in passing attempts, he averaged 2.5 touchdowns per game...
He was such a high floor player and I think he has the opportunity against this year because quite frankly I think this has the opportunity to be the best Eagles’ offense in the Pederson era... I think Wentz is in for a massive year.”
Crist went on to say that DeSean Jackson was the missing piece for this offense last year, further cementing Wentz as a top quarterback to have in fantasy this year.
Other topics on Fireside Chats #13 include:
- Dallas Goedert could be a league winner in the right circumstance.
- The debate surrounding Saquon Barkley at 1.01 and why it’s a no brainer.
- Christian McCaffrey vs. Ezekiel Elliott: who is the Barkley consolation prize?
- Davante Adams score 15+ fantasy points in 16 games last year; is he WR1 this year?
- The yearly DeVante Parker love affair.
- Which tier does JuJu Smith-Schuster belong in?
