So, this one could get interesting.
There are 32 teams in the NFL, but what if the Philadelphia franchise was no longer an option as our team of choice?
Obviously, I would at least take my fandom out of the NFC East. There is absolutely no way I would ever root for the Dallas, Washington or New York. I grew up in Ohio, and being surrounded by Browns and Bengals fans have ruined those franchises for me — not to mention that they’ve been rather historically soul-crushingly bad. So those two teams are out.
I’ve never been much of a band-wagon fan, so I wouldn’t necessarily go for the best team out there — plus, I would never root for the Patriots — but I would want a team that at least has potential and/or a team philosophy for building a roster that I can support. I’d also look for a fan base that loves hard, and supports their team even in the bad times.
So, where does that leave me? I’d probably consider the Kansas City Chiefs — at least I’d have a young, up-and-coming quarterback and Andy Reid — or New Orleans Saints — because partying in the Super Dome as a part of the home team has to be an incredible experience.
If the Eagles franchise wasn’t an option, which team would you root for?
