NFL: Philadelphia Eagles-Minicamp Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL dead zone has officially begun. It’s going to be a slow grind until the first Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice begins on July 25.

The good news is that we still have some post-minicamp coverage and front office news to talk about. So that’s exactly what John Stolnis and I discussed on the latest BGN Radio podcast episode.

  • Sifting through the Eagles’ front office announcements: Andy Weidl replacing Joe Douglas, Howie Roseman getting the “general manager” title back, etc. The value of continuity and not losing more staff members to the New York Jets.
  • Malcolm Jenkins reported for mandatory minicamp. Will the Eagles actually reward him? (Plus: BLG rips some Eagles fans!)
  • Assessing how Carson Wentz has looked in spring practices. What specifically has made him impressive?
  • Is Wentz the best quarterback that DeSean Jackson has ever played with?
  • The Eagles have no shortage of offensive weapons.
  • BLG is a big believer in Avonte Maddox: “If he’s not on the field for a bulk of the [snaps], if his playing time is limited, then the Eagles are trying to lose games. They’re actively trying to lose.”
  • Sidney Jones isn’t giving us reason to be excited in the way that Maddox and Rasul Douglas are
  • Marken Michel is a dark horse roster candidate to watch
  • How much does Miles Sanders missing spring practices really matter? And what’s his projected 2019 role?
  • The Eagles’ 2019 motto is that “Everything Matters” — what does that mean and how did 2018 impact that motto?
  • The Eagles made even more medical staff changes
  • A message about the upcoming dead zone
